David Melbye, Ph.D.
Los Angeles native, David Melbye, earned both his Masters and Ph.D. in cinema at the University of Southern California’s prestigious School of Cinematic Arts. He also holds a Masters in English Literature, a Bachelors of Arts in General Literature, and a Bachelor of Sciences in Quantitative Economics.
Since 2006, Melbye has taught a broad range of media studies courses in a variety of universities and private academies in Southern California, and more recently taught film theory and production courses as a Fulbright professor at the Royal Film Commission in Amman, Jordan, and as a visiting professor at an all-women’s university in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Melbye has published two academic books, one on psychological landscapes in cinema, and the other on irony in the classic Twilight Zone television series. Melbye worked in the industry, contributing as a music producer for popular TV shows including: Friday Night Lights, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and One Life to Live.
